If you have earned 60 credit hours or an associate degree, going back to school to finish your bachelor’s just became more convenient.
Instead of relocating or driving to a campus to take classes, you may be eligible to complete a bachelor’s degree through a new distance education program offered by the University of Missouri College of Arts and Science in partnership with the Center for Distance and Independent Study.
Applications are being taken for distance students in the University’s bachelor of general studies (BGS) program. Those who meet admission requirements have the opportunity to take their remaining credit hours toward the BGS solely through independent study courses.
Degree-seeking students will enjoy the same flexible scheduling as those who take individual courses offered through CDIS. You may apply for admission any time of the year. Enrollment for courses also is available year-round, and you can work at your own pace, taking up to nine months to finish each course.
Is the BGS right for you?
To qualify for admission, students should have completed either an associate of arts from a regionally accredited college or at least 60 transferable credit hours. They must have taken college algebra and expository writing and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 if newly transferring to MU.
Students with fewer than 60 hours may take courses offered through CDIS or another regionally accredited institution to become eligible to apply.
