Lesson 1: An Introduction to Sociology and Rural Sociology
PurposeThis lesson is a general introduction to the discipline of sociologywhat it is, its origins, and how it may contribute to a better understanding of social reality. We will pay particular attention to what it means to have a sociological imagination, how we may begin to think in a sociological perspective about what is considered rural, and how sociology might advance our understanding of society.
