  About the Author

Dr. Morris has worked in various capacities with children and families for the Missouri Department of Mental Health for more than twenty years. He worked in both inpatient and community settings, serving as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, case manager, individual therapist and as Director of Therapeutic Foster Care. He currently serves as Children's Services Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services and as an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has presented and published on topics related to children with serious emotional disturbances (SED).

Dr. Morris has a Doctorate degree in Educational, School and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is especially interested in implementing and evaluating public mental health policy, connecting public mental health services with school systems, serving children and families with serious emotional disturbances in systems of care, juvenile justice issues, and evidence based intervention practices.

Dr. Morris lives in a rural area on eighty acres north of Columbia, Missouri with his wife. They raise horses and enjoy working in the outdoors. They are both fans of college athletics and have followed the Missouri Tigers since their undergraduate days. However, his favorite activity is being a grandfather.
